Sunny Bliss: Discovery Park

I love surprise sun-kissed February days.
Such a sweet relief in the midst of gray and rain.
Seattle, you have once again stolen my heart.
Discovery Point Lighthouse looking out to the Olympics.
A perfect day for hiding out in trees, soaking up the sun.
From the viewpoint near the old navy base.
Forest stairs.
Looking south to Rainier. I love this city.

A Hipster Black Friday.

Isabel's Espresso, my favorite Lopez Island coffee shop. A quick morning coffee stop to gear up for...

The Lopez Island Friends of the Library Book Sale! Contents of my box: five cookbooks, box set of Oprah DVDs, two CDs, one paperback book, and one DVD. Total cost: $9. Most were completely new and oh so within my limited budget. Friends, don't look too close, it will ruin your Christmas surprise!

An afternoon walk with the dogs at Iceberg Point, Lopez Island.

Getting Out - Mason Lake.

Shores of Mason Lake

Hiking has become the ultimate form of relaxation for me over the past few years. And during this crazy time of transition and unknown, it's worth the splurge on gas money every now and then to get out and go somewhere for a day, simply to clear my head and enjoy this lovely state. Especially in the fall.
A few weeks ago, a friend and I headed to Mason Lake, which is about a 45 minute drive out from Seattle. It was simply gorgeous and the lake was a little hidden oasis that begged to be relaxed at. On our hike down, Mt. Rainier decided to make an appearance.

Looking south - Rainier was popping through the clouds.

Fresh Starts & Freak Outs.

Fall is for fresh starts, blog restarts, and overall life restarts.

For turning over new leaves.

For having no idea what you are doing with your life.

And for taking the time to figure out what you should be doing with your life.

Fall is for being unemployed, fiercely broke and yet blissfully happy.

Fall is for being thankful for the time to breathe, panic, rest, play, panic, pray, work odd jobs, panic, dream, hope and trust.

And for trying not to panic more.

Normandy

I just got back from a 2-day jaunt to Normandy... it was amazing! We drove from Nurlu to Mont St. Michael, which is beautiful and incredible - full of history. If you don't know what it is, you should Google image search it and check it out.

We slept in a Formula 1 hotel that nights (also fabulous!) and set out the next morning for the Normandy beaches. These were incredible. It was wet, raining, cold, windy, and only three days after D-Day. It was really amazing to stand on the beaches and try to imagine what that day looked like.

Of course, I had to get wet - feet in the water, hours out in the rain - a wonderful day. Walking the American Cemetery was also incredible. A day full of surprises and great memories!

I'm coming home on Friday and can't wait to see you all and chat, catch up, hear about life. I hope you all are doing well and loving your June!
